old man
it was lovely to be out in the park,
(sounding like an old farth myself)
one of those paintings when you never want it to finish.
and....didn't get rained on!

Good Bad Weather
a continuous stream of rain, sun and everything in between,
no fun to be out there
but nice to paint all those effects from the windows...

Early start

oil on panel 12x6"
very early,cold and frosty,
i got up for fun,the farmer had to work,
still we both thought the morning was beautiful.
this was done on a panel rene had left behind...
it even looks like he could have painted this,
don't you think?

Llandrindod Wells (autumn)
oil on canvas 7x11"This is the first plein air i'm happy with since i stopped smoking (four are in the bin)
trashed this one out in one hour, didn't need them fag breaks...
an old boy came by and watched me,he must have been 70 or 80,
smoking away, told me he had been smoking for 50 years,no problem, aaargh!

peaceful

oil on canvas 7x11"
spend some rainy hours over at the cowshed,
good thing about having a cold, you can't smell anything.
the light is constant all day,so peaceful...no rush,
the cows calmly munching away, happy to be inside
went home for lunch during the painting...
oil on canvas 7x11"and a few peaceful hours by the river too...i'm trying to stop smoking, this is day four,it is so hard, all i think about is cigarettes, pure torture...

Elan Valley
Dam and Stone Circle oil on canvas 7x10" went with Rene to the Elan valley reservoirs for a real challenge, painting the dams...
it was soooo windy,my easel blew over three times and one of the legs broke,
i was sweating and swearing, really swearing,
not realizing some people were watching me from behind!
they smiled politely and quickly left....aaaargh
so what does Rene do when it is really windy? yes paint on top of a hill...
